The Caribbean is a great snorkeling location. This being the case, there of course are places around the Caribbean, where it is great to snorkel, that are better than others. There are ten main spots where snorkeling is very popular in the Caribbean, based on what vacationers have commented on.
The first spot is Mona Island where there are large cliffs that are like giant walls. This island is right off the coast of Puerto Rico. Residing in these warm waters, are 270 different species of beautiful and colorful fish, endangered fish, and sea turtles. This is a site to see and is very high ranking as a place to snorkel.
Antigua is another hotspot. It’s beautiful and warm beaches surround nice refreshing and clear water where many different colors of fish swim.
Buck Island Reef National Monument is on one of the virgin islands and has some of the best coral reefs seen around. It is protected by the park service so only pictures should be taken.
St. John, another one of the virgin islands, has warm and shallow waters where there are many coral reefs and tropical fish of all colors and nature.
Curacao Underwater Marine Park inhabits sunken ships, tropical fish, coral reefs, and many different kinds of sharks to see.
The Tobago Cays is a government protected wildlife area where there are countless numbers of rainbow colored fish and the reefs are in impeccable condition.
Provo is more known for it’s fantastic dive site, although it also offers some of that beautiful color tourists love to snorkel for.
Anse Chastanet is a great area to snorkel for beginners and weak swimmers to snorkel because it is blocked off by buoys and boats are not allowed to interfere with your snorkeling experience.
St. Martin is a government protected island and it is nonetheless beautiful. The depth of the clear water can be seen up to 200 feet down and, of course, it has beautiful fish.
Stingray City is the last hotspot on this agenda. The perfectly clear waters are thirteen feet deep so this is great for beginning snorkelers and swimmers who are a little skittish. It has warm beaches and beautiful wildlife and brightly colored fish.
